First of all, emphasizing that calibration is one of the most important cornerstones of a successful brewing can never be enough. We have encountered many feedback and information about successes and failures, and are going to eviscerate these scenarios, finding where the process must have derailed.

Water or weight? The first and most important issue is using water. Always use water, when calibrating the Brewie. Using different objects to reach the targeted weight might end in a successful calibration, but, since the weight distribution is not even, the different distribution of water could easily ruin the calibration and result in inappropriate volumes or water or overflowing.

Even weight distribution is not only important in the inside of the machine, but it applies to the whole machine itself. Please, take care, that you place your Brewie on a horizontal surface, with all four of its legs standing. If you feel that the machine is not evenly distributed, check the surface with a spirit level. If the Brewie is still not horizontal, you might want to check if all four legs are evenly screwed in (they are easily adjustable by hand).

IMPORTANT! Never lift or tilt the machine alone! Never place turn your Brewie on its “face”, and never use the middle plastic part to hold the machine’s weight!

Similarly important is precisely weighing the water you add. Many owners first add the amount on the touchscreen, before even measuring the water - in these instances, always remember to measure the exact amount of water that you added to the software. Make sure that the amount is precise, since a few grams can mess up the whole calibration process.

Remember to measure the bucket’s weight as well. Use your scale to measure it before you start pouring water into it - many times the weight of the water container is not taken into account, resulting in failure in calibration.
